Demos Ready To Go!

What: Finishing My Sample CD
Who: Quatuor de Force

I have a jazz quartet called Christopher McBride's Quatuor de Force and we had our first live show in November of last year. I had the music recorded and had plans to make a demo/sampler CD with the music.

Finally, five months later, it's done! I took the best parts of four tracks and made them into a CD. I'm very proud of the work that was done and am glad to have something I can give people in their hands with my music.

The CD and case have my logo on it. I love my logo. Here it is.

And here is the CD case and CD.

And here is me posing with my CD case.

This whole process took time because it wasn't depending on just me. But it's finally done. The first step of my complete press kit is finally done.

Recording Session with Afro Zep

When: Sunday, April 3, 2011
What: Recording Session with Afro Zep
Who: Afro Zep is a cover band that plays only Led Zeppelin music. They just play it mashed up with African music and it is amazing.
Where: Superior Street

Check out Afro Zep's MySpace page, Afro Zep's YouTube page, and Afro Zep's Facebook page.

here is a video of one of their songs so you get a taste of their music

This recording session was by far one of the quickest ever. They recorded the different instruments separately. They started with the drums. After that, they layered in the horns. They use an alto saxophone and a tenor saxophone.

There was time spent going over the parts, and then only three takes of each song. Life is so much easier when both horn players know what they're doing.

Once the recording was done, it was pizza time, then jumping on the road to drive from Chicago to St. Louis for school the next morning.

Hello New Blog

Even with a MySpace page, a Google calendar, and other ways to get music out there, there is a need for something to talk about the music process.

This blog will talk about gigs, recording sessions, and rehearsals. It will also talk about forming a music group, writing music, and spending time practicing and honing a craft. Just the life of a musician with a day job, really.
